Experian

Experian is one of the top three credit reporting agencies in the United States, along with Equifax and TransUnion.  Experian was founded in 1980 as CCN systems and then acquired by what is now formerly known as TRW Information services in 1996.

Experian's primary focus of business is credit services, marketing solutions, decision analytics and interactive services.  They collect information on insurance, people businesses, and motor vehicles.  They maintain a database of over 215 million people in the U.S. and over 450 million vehicles.  They also provide credit reports to businesses.

Experian is known for it's heavily marketed freecreditreport.com campaign.  All three major credit reporting agencies are required by law to provide consumers with a free credit report every 12 months, if requested.
