Receipt

A receipt is a confirmation of purchase related to a specific transaction that took place at the point of sale.  Receipts are usually hard copy paper receipts outlining the amount of the transaction, the merchant name and location, the date of the transaction, whether payment was made via cash or credit card, and usually contains a transaction reference number.  For online internet purchases most merchants deliver an electronic receipt or confirmation with a printable version from their web site or they may deliver the receipt via email.
