A chargeback is the reversal of a credit card transaction due to the cardholder disputing the validity of the transaction or because of dissatisfaction with the product or service received from the merchant. Technically speaking, a chargeback is a transaction returned through interchange by an issuer to an acquirer. A chargeback may also occur because of failure by a merchant to follow the regulations pertaining to their merchant account.
