Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP)

The Cardholder Information Security Program, or CISP, is an information security standard sponsored and promoted by Visa USA that applies to any organization that stores or handles credit card account numbers. The Cardholder Information Security Program is designed to protect cardholder information as it is passed from the merchant to the credit card processor. CISP has been replaced by the PCI Data Security Standard.
