Authorized Amount

The authorized amount in a credit card transaction is the currency amount approved or authorized by the credit card issuer for the merchant to charge against the cardholders account. The merchant will only receive payment on the sale for the authorized amount only. Generally, authorized amount and authorization amount have the same meaning.
