Authorization

Authorization is the act of insuring that a credit card holder has adequate funds available on their line of credit. A positive authorization results in an authorization code being generated, and the funds being set aside in the amount of the credit card transaction in question. The cardholder's available credit limit is reduced by the authorized amount.
